NECA National Excellence Awards - 2006 Winner - Defence House ACT O’Donnell Griffin (ODG) has won a National Electricity and Communications Association (NECA) National Excellence Award for its work in upgrading the power generation system at Defence House in Canberra. The award was presented to ODG ACT Manager, Mr Garry Waters, at this year’s NECA industry awards held on 9 November in Sydney. The NECA Awards of Excellence were awarded to those projects that demonstrated innovative use of new technologies, met and/or exceeded the client’s expectations and were also commercially profitable for the business.
NECA National Excellence Awards - Winner - Industrial Category ODG In Victoria were awarded the 2003 NECA (National Electrical & Communications' Association) Award of Excellence in the Industrial category for the ANZ MIW Project. The NECA Awards of Excellence are the ultimate showcase for the electrical and communications industry in Australia. They celebrate excellence in both technology , innovation and managerial expertise. Dave Howe, ODG Service & Installations Manager said "without the dedication of our employees, specifically our field and supervisory staff involved in the project, we would not have achieved this award. It was their commitment that ensured successful completion of the project. This was a challenging project because the complete upgrade of this data centre had to be carried out without interruption to ANZ customer services."
NECA Award of Excellence - Winner - Industrial Project Division Western Australia O'Donnell Griffin has been successful in receiving an Award of Excellence from the National Electrical and Communications Association for the Industrial Project Division in Western Australia. The project O'Donnell Griffin nominated was the recently completed Worsley Expansion Project. In May 1998 O'Donnell Griffin were awarded a contract to upgrade the electrical works on the Infrastructure of the raw materials area. This included new stacking conveyors, reclaimers and modification work to the stackers, overland conveyor and minesite crushers. The work involved many shutdowns as a guarantee of maintaining production was given to Worsley Alumina and achieved. In May 1999 O'Donnell Griffin were awarded the contract for all electrical and instrumentation works on the expansion "Whiteside Facilities". This was the largest electrical contract on the Expansion Project. With a contract duration of approximately 12 months, O'Donnell Griffin peaked at 350 personnel on site, 22,000 metres of electrical cable, 18,500 metres of electrical cable ladder, 24,000 metres of electrical conduit and 2,500 light fittings are an example of the quantities of equipment installed under this contract. By the timely contract completion O'Donnell Griffin expended over 500,000 man-hours on the Worsley Expansion Project.
O'Donnell Griffin were finalists in the 2002 National Electrical and Communications Association's Awards of Excellence in the "Technical & Innovation" category for their work on the Henry Dean Building.
O'Donnell Griffin was engaged by Baulderstone Hornibrook as the electrical services design development and construction contractor for the Henry Dean Building. Responsibilities included:
O'Donnell Griffin worked closely with Baulderstone Hornibrook and PlanningNSW to develop the original design provided by Addicoat Hogarth & Wilson for the base building electrical services. The implemented design provided cost effectiveness both at the construction stage of the project by maximising savings, as well as minimising life-cycle costs through the use of energy efficient design practices.
As part of the design development process, O'Donnell Griffin proposed a number of modifications and improvements to maximise the energy efficiency of the building, that were accepted by PlanningNSW and incorporated during the construction phase of the project.
